mainaCecilia Palma was born in 1994 in Genoa. She obtained the bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in July 2016, with a thesis aimed at characterizing the mechanical behaviour of magnetorheological fluids and investigating their potential applications in the biomedical field. She studied 6 months in Austria at the Technische Universität Graz, with the Erasmus+ Program, in which she extended her knowledge about tissue engineering and biomaterials characterization. In October 2019, she earned her master’s degree in Biomedical engineering from Politecnico di Milano. Her master thesis was carried out in collaboration with Ospedale San Raffaele and focused on developing compartmentalized microfluidic platforms for the in vitro reconstruction and manipulation of functional neuronal networks. She is currently a PhD student in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano. She works with the MiMic Lab group and her research activity concerns the conception, development and validation of microfluidic devices to study mechanisms triggering osteoarthritis.
