ferrariErika Ferrari was born in 1993 in Bordighera. She obtained the bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in February 2016, with a thesis aimed at defining a sequence of tools that can be used to create and analyze two-dimensional granular domains within materials. In 2016 she was selected for a double master’s degree program between Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She studied at UIC for 1 year where she extended her knowledge about liver tissue engineering. In 2018 she earned the double master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at UIC and POLIMI with both theses focused on the development of microfluidic protein patterning technologies to establish functional human liver in vitro models. She is currently a PhD student in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano. She works with the MiMic Lab group and her research activity concerns the conception, development and validation of liver on chip and liver-heart on chip microfluidic devices for drug screening and safety.
