CELLS – Circular Economy Lab for Life Sciences<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CELLS is an interdepartmental laboratory aimed to using waste materials or by-products from various productive activities to extract, produce and shape new materials and devices with applications in the Life Sciences. To this aim, CELLS consists of three modules: one dedicated to the extraction of by-products coming from different industrial sectors (EXTRACT), one dedicated to their characterization and functionalization (PRODUCE), and one dedicated to the development of new devices based with these materials (SHAPE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lab was created thanks to the MUSA spoke 3 project, and it involves four Polimi Departments: on the materials and manufacturing side, the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering (DEIB), the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DMEC), and the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering (CMIC). Also, the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering (DIG) is involved in the lab to analyse the sustainability and the economical impact of the new solutions implemented and to involve industrial actors interested in developing circular approaches in their sectors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

CELLS performs its services as part of research projects carried out in agreement with public and private entities. The laboratory is also available for conducting surveys on materials and components on behalf of third parties. Collaborations with research projects and performing services for third parties shall be evaluated and estimates are provided on request.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n
