Advanced Culture Systems<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our group is strongly driven by the ambition of developing advanced culture systems enabling the investigation of complex biological phenomena.
Thanks to our devices we apply physiopathological stimuli typical of the milliscale, up to the macroscale organ-dimension, providing innovative, accurate and reliable platforms that can establish effective in vitro <\/em>and ex vivo <\/em>models.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Milli-fluidic Platforms and Microphysiological Systems<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our projects focus on developing a cutting-edge, modular milli fluidic platform to overcome traditional limits in in vitro research and preclinical testing, significantly boosting drug R&D efficiency and effectiveness. In collaboration with TTOP, spin-off of the research group, we are pushing for the adoption of the technology worldwide. We utilize Microphysiological Systems (MPS) to accurately simulate complex human tissue environments, particularly the intestinal barrier. By integrating wireless technology and automation, our platform enables continuous, real-time, high throughput monitoring of biological processes, enhancing experiment accuracy and reproducibility while streamlining workflows.
Our platform supports the 3Rs principles, reducing reliance on animal models and refining experimental methods for better outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three-Dimensional Bioreactors<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our bioreactors allow the accommodation of cellular, tissue and whole organ samples, applying in-vivo<\/em> like stimuli in a dynamic and controlled manner.
These platforms can be completely managed wirelessly and even remotely, as well as being equipped with various sensors for complete automation and safety of each experimental phase.
Through the developed culture model systems, we characterize the properties of both native and synthetic samples, automatically cellularize scaffolds of different origins and sizes, and perform sophisticated biological campaigns by stimulating the sample in an extremely controlled way. We firmly believe that our research can have significant impacts in both clinical and industrial fields, enabling more effective pre-clinical practices and accurate evaluations in the development of new biomedical devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
