Aldo Jose Suria Roldan was born in 1994 in San Salvador, El Salvador. In 2017 he graduated with honours as a Biomedical engineer specializing in Clinical Engineering from Universidad Don Bosco in El Salvador. He was part of the ERASMUS LAMENITEC program, which allowed him to complete one year of his studies at Università degli Studi di Cagliari in 2015. In 2020, he obtained a master’s degree in biomedical engineer with a focus in Biomechanics and Biomaterials at Politecnico di Milano. Posteriorly he worked as a Technical Support Engineer at National Instruments and became a certified LabVIEW associated developer. He currently works in the fields of cardiovascular mechanics and mechanical ventilation, specifically in the Gilgamesh and MakingMEV projects. The latter aims to develop a functional prototype of a Multiple Emergency Ventilator (MEV) for endemic and pandemic emergencies. The ventilator prototype will be able to assist ten or more patients in an intrinsically safe manner. The Gilgamesh project is a collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and Simulands AG, which has the scope to develop a miniaturized mock loop of the cardiovascular system utilizing passive slaughterhouse porcine hearts. The device will be compatible with fluoroscopy and echograph imaging to enhance the simulation of cardiac surgery procedures.
