vismaraRiccardo Vismara obtained a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2003 and in 2007 a PhD in Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano. Currently he is Assistant Professor at the Department of Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano. His research activity mainly concerns the experimental study of the biomechanics of physiologic and pathologic heart valves, and it is focused on innovative surgical therapies for heart pathologies (e.g. reparative surgery for heart valves, transcatheter implant of prosthetic devices), in collaboration with highly specialized hospitals in Europe. He is author of 50 publications, including more than 20 peer-reviewed papers on international journals, and of an international patent. In 2011 he won the Walton Lillehei Young Investigatro’s Award of the European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery.
