ubeat

the beating heart-on-a-chip project

uBeat reproduces the human heart functions in a chip, being the first predictive in vitro tool for drug cardiotoxicity.

uBeat allows to generate miniaturized in vitro models of functional human cardiac tissues. This is possible thanks to a technology we have patented (PCT/IB2016/052410), which provide 3D cardiac cells within uBeat with a mechanical training resembling the heart beating.

uBeat stems from the research project “Smart nanostructured hydrogel systems for generation of conctractile cardiac organoids” financed by Fondazione Cariplo in 2012, and granted to Politecnico di Milano, under the scientific supervision of Dr Marco Rasponi
